    Re: Zephyr, My Sweet Friend

My favorite spiritual teacher is Dr. Deepak Chopra. I also like Eckard Tolle, who also is well educated in living in the NOW. I began my journey with Dr. Chopra, in 1999, when I happened into a Barnes and Noble book store, and happened to see a two tape audio set of his entitled...Your Higher Self. That title just resonated with me, so I purchased that audio, and would listen to it every morning on the way to work. Soon, I found his website, and began meditating. To this very day, I live and practice the serenity and authentic power of Now, living in the moment, meditating, and living in peace, even in the times of life's uncertainity and unexpected challenges that happen to us all from time to time.

About 15 years ago, after I retired, due to some medical challenges, I had a flock of 13 birds....5 adult budgies, 4 baby budgies, and 4 cockatiels!!

Since then, I moved to a small apartment and downsized to 2 budgies. You are totally right!!! One can easily add to your flock! For afterall, they are more fun, and cheaper by the dozen!!

You and I could have been siblings in another life! Thank you for sharing!!

I noticed zephyrís blue color on his chest is quite a bit ďwhiterĒ and paler. Iím finding zephyr fuzzy feathers everywhere lol I think heís losing his bars on his head as well. First Moult?

    Also:

Budgie Anonymous program anyone? 😂. Meet my new love, Zenith, and Zephyr was sooooo happy he has a new friend! Zenith is amazing as well! He (?) talks to me constantly and is very well adjusted. These two brudders are sooooo fun!!

I am sad I cant see your pictures I have to update my account to enable 3rd party hosting?? Or it least that is what I see as your picture. I am going to have to try to figure out why I cant see them here.

How neat you got another budgie for your Zephyr, he must be thrilled to have a friend to play with. I only had one bird and now my daughter who lives a block away from me has one bird and Tikki is one happy spoiled little bird. Boomer was very spoiled and was like our other child so I don't think he ever missed having a bird friend here. Honestly he was a huge jerk around other birds and would attack them brutally so that is why we never thought about getting him a friend.

I am sorry you had a rough year and happy you found relief in living for the now. I too was helped when Ellen here mentioned Dr. Chopra and I did his meditations. I still get a little freaked out with life now and then but take time out to concentrate on my breathes and "just breath" to clear my thoughts which helps me too.

Awww! Well' you did yourself proud!! Zenith is beautiful. I do think it is a boy. I do think he is probably about a year old, because you will see his bars on the top of the head are gone, and he has the little back dots around his neck, which I call the collar. They do not get these collars until about a year old, but these days many newer mutaions that have surfaced over the years do not have the collar. The lighter color mutations such as Zephyr, may not have the collar. Neither of mine have the collar. You are lucky to have found another male. Males get along well with each other.

I will check on that mutation, to see what he might be.

They do change feather colors somewhat when they molt. The hard molt comes at about a year. However, budgies tend to lose feathers now and then throughout the year. Some things can set off the feather drop. Being afraid, or moving the cage, or changing the diet can also cause a molt.

    Re: Zephyr, My Sweet Friend

You think heís a year? Aw man. Heís super tho. Really laid back and I love how interactive he is! Didnít expect it so soon but heís totally at home here.

Zephyr has pin feathers sticking out all over his head 😂 figured he was going to lose his bars now.

Boomer, I donít know why you canít see the pic, but I see the same thing on everyoneís pics. I donít know what Iím supposed to update 😂. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Iíve always been a bit of a Pollyanna by nature. Iíve been through enough baloney to have seen all the positive things that come out of each bad situation. Doesnít necessarily make it better but it does help me to remember the bigger picture. ☺️

Maxollie, zenith is marked pretty similar to zephyr, except for the different colors. His belly splotch isnít as wide as Zephyr tho. He has the white spot in the back of his head. Pied? Iíll get body pics if he will stop looking at me. 😂

    Man I love these guys!!!

Photobucket unfortunatly now requires you to pay to actually show anyone your pictures. So It's not us who have to upgrade our account to see her pictures, it's JenElwa who has to upgrade her account.

I just love the bright colors on your little yellow budgie!

If you hit the picture link on the toolbar above the comment box where you write the posts then put the tinypic link url in the pop up box the pictures will show up on your post and not just the link.
