    Hello Everyone

Hi Everyone. This is Sunil from Delhi India. I am in IT by profession and an animal and bird lover. I had a pet dog (Bruno) but after he died never had the courage to keep any pet as it made me very sad.

However couple of moths back my wife got two Budgies from her friend who was shifting to a different city and it was not possible for them to take the birds along. They have had the birds for more than 3 years. I and my wife were initially very sad to see them caged so we let them fly in the house (so that we could see if we could let them free) but came to know that one of them the female could not fly and the other the male could only make shot flights. So we decided against letting them free. Then we thought of giving them to a Zoo so that they could live more freely as they would have a bigger cage. But then I decided against giving them to the Zoo as I was not sure how well they would be kept.

Se we have had them for approx 3 months now. Initially it was difficult as we never had pet birds but now they are used to us and we to their habits. We let them free in the house in a room for 2 to 3 hours a day so that they can do whatever they want as if they are free. They have been pampered like anything now.

The reason for joining this forum is that the female has laid eggs and I am not sure how to take care of her. Will be starting a new thread to share the experience and take suggestion from the experienced members in the forum so that she hatches the eggs.

How Sunil, and welcome. When birds are caged for a long time their wing muscles get very stiff and somewhat atrophied. But every day you let them out to fly, even for a short time, will build those muscles and I am confident they will gain full flight one day. We will welcome updates anytime. Time and patience are on your side.

HI Sunil, Welcome to the forum. I am happy you decided to keep both of these birds and can sure tell you I know that feeling of losing a loved pet and not ever wanting another one. It is so hard to lose them after loving them with all your heart. I think you and your wife will be great parronts (parents of a parrot) to these two birds. Eggs are scary and thankfully I never had to deal with them but lots of people here have so they will be able to help you out.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.
