What does this mean? (diamond dove)

This isnít very major, but lately Chili, my diamond dove, has been running from my hand. I havenít done anything that wouldíve broken our trust. Itís weird. She will step up when she stops running, but when I place her on her perch I have for her outside her cage, she just Coos at me. Constantly. Idk what this means but Iím worried. Why is she afraid of my hand? Why does she coo at me when I place her down? What can I do to make her feel more comfortable with my hands?

P.s I did notice about 10-15 new feathers poking through her others. They just look like sticks. Does this mean sheís molting? Could this be contributing to her unusual behavior?

It sure sounds like a molt to me. It also could be the reason she don't you to touch her. They are very touchy when they molt because there skin is sore where the feathers are poking through. Lots of bathes help and so does misting her. Our vet recommends organic red palm oil to birds and says its great for molting birds. She told my daughter to feed her green cheek conure a pea sized dab of it everyday. Its great for there skin and feathers from the inside out. My daughter gets her jar of it from Amazon or sometimes the health food store here.

follow up question: is it normal for her poop to be green and abnormally shaped, her to be sitting with her feathers fluffed up so much she looks like she has no neck, for her neck to randomly twitch(?), and for her to be tired constantly while shes molting? i feel like i should take her to the vet, she looks sick.

I don’t have any knowledge on this specifically, but I think you should listen to your gut. If you think she needs to be seen she probably does. Good luck and keep us posted!!!
