Really Scared...WOndering if my sun conure is Sick

Ok So ben is showing some really strange behaviour lately, He will start flicking one of his wings and bob his head up and down and make these really gentle squak noises, he gets all fluffed up and hell let me stroke him. I notice when I stan dup he perks up and doesn't do this naymore. Is he sick? He eats he drinks, and he still squawks when he doesnt see me. I dont know what tothink though

I wonder if he is feeling hormonal and is giving you his mating dance. It does sound like it.

Ben sounds like a hormonal female. Around my house, it's called jungle fever and happens every year about this time. Do you have other conures?
BTW, petting her back is like flirtation. Conures don't get it as badly as other birds, but there are tricks to help her. Next, she may start regurgitating food then, if alone, eat it. That's how they feed their mate, either gender, that's sitting on the nest.

Another thing to think about: is the bird maybe asking for some food, water or a treat?
Also, it may be boredom. Have you put any new toys in the bird's cage lately? They like to chew on wood toys, and it's a good idea to swap the toys out regularly so they won't be so bored. My sun conure loved bells, too. He also loved toys he could climb on.

One of my female Suns did exactly what you described when it was time to nest! While it could be those other things, I wonder why the description is the same.

I didn't want this, so tried to find other reasons. Then the AV assured me it was female hormonal behavior and warned me of what to expect next. She was spot on. This is just a repeat of what she said and my experiences with it.

Hopefully, it's something else! Just in case, ask if you need to know how to deal with hormonal behavior in conures. Again, I hope it's something else, but seriously doubt it.
