Mom & dad are pushing baby out

Hi again! Our tiels have laid anther clutch. Sad to say, when I was candle lighting them, I accidently broke an egg. I fixed it and they sat on it for a day, but then the next day they put it in their food dish, I am amazed at them being able to get it there. But my real question is, an egg hatched on Saturday, they sat on it until the next day. We found the little fellow pushed to the front of the nest. I took him out and looked him over, he looks fine. Put him under heat to warm him up, then put him back with the other eggs. They sat on him again over night, but this morning he was pushed out front again. They now have a 2nd egg hatched and they are still sitting on him. I'm not sure if I should take the outcast out & feed him or wait & see what they will do. Any suggestions?

Hi, and welcome back. We have several members who have experience in breeding, so I am hopeful they will answer your post. In my view, when an egg breaks it needs to be discarded because of possible salmonella from the egg white and yolk, and also, the hen knows that egg will not hatch, so they put it in the water dish.

This is the only one that survived out of 5 eggs. I'm thinking about calling him Bandit 032.jpg

Bandit is only 20 days old in these pics. I have small hands and he fills them up. He is so much bigger than any of the others we've had. 051.jpg052.jpg

I love him! He will bring you joy each and everyday. Please stop by and post some pics now and then. I think he is going to be gorgeous when fully feathered and he is perching and can fly!!
