    Cunure wants to bite.

I had a green Cheek that died some months ago. I purchased a yellow-sided conure. My birds have always been out of their cage all day till bedtime then they go in the cage. Peachy was very kind and affectionate. Lately she has been biting to the point she flies on my shoulder then bites my neck/shoulder.I put her in her cage but that doesnt help. I think its a female thing. Just placing my hand close to pet her she starts to try to bite. What am I doing wrong.

Tikki went through a big biting stage and he would attack all the guys who came into my daughters house. He also sadly attacked her husband flying to him and biting him hard enough to make him bleed. Thankfully he only did this when he was younger and after one very long month of him attacking he stopped doing it and never did it again. My daughter kept him in his cage whenever her husband was home. He tamed back up to her husband slowly and now never bites him at all. You are not doing anything wrong, it is hormones I think because that is what Tikkis was.

I totally agree with Deanna. I too think it is hormones. They can change to this behavior overnight it seems!
It will probably last for a few weeks, so do protect your hands and skin. It usually goes away before too long, and they get back to their kind behavior. Time and patience will win for you!!

Tikki was only like this when he was young and probably did not know how to handle his hormones so well. Now he gets a little moody but thankfully gave up on attacking all the men in the house. He just gets a little frisky with his toys now but don't bite. His first time when he was feeling his manhood was brutal.
