Hello!
I bring you some baby budgies pictures!
This the first time my birds have had babies so if anyone could tell me how old do they have to be to know their gender and how to tell them apart I'd appreciate it!
I know that males usually have deep blue ceres (apart for albinos and lutinos) and females have very pale blues or brown ceres, but when they're young some websites say females have blue/purple and males have pink? (ó v ò) which has gotten me a bit confused...
Here are some pictures from oldest to youngest!
Don't mind the 3rd one being held! He just doesn't sit still if he doesn't feel safe, making for some very shaky pictures
Thanks in advance!![]()

Hi, and welcome to the community! Awwww!!!! They are precious!!!! They look to be very healthy. In my view, it is too early yet to tell for sure their sex. Usually, at about 9-12 months they go into puberty, and then their hormones kick in, and you would see the male and female mating behaviors. But, you can go on line and Google DNA sex kits for budgies. They are sold on line. They send you the kit. You then pull some feathers in certain areas of the body, send them back, and the company will send you the result.I imagine the four tests would be pretty expensive. And I know vets cost is high as well. My suggestion is to wait 2-3 months, and then repost the pics here. By then, I may be able to give you possibilities, but right now I cannot say for sure.
I would be so busy watching them all day, I would never get my house work done!!!!!i. They are just sooooo cute!!! Good luck! If you have other questions, please post them!!
