    Vet clipped wings wrong

Hi everyone. Iím new here but wanted some advice.
I have always had parrots in my life as I was growing up so learned a lot about them.
Last year I bought an African grey called Harley. This year my partner surprised me with an early birthday present, an amazon named Biba. (Who loves my partner and hates me haha) we took Biba to a vet 30 miles away who specialises in exotics for a wing clip.
When we arrived home and let Biba out we found that she can still fly as good as before! Upon closer inspection it looks as though he has cut the wrong feathers and she looks a mess.
I spoke with the vet on the phone and he offered me a refund and a redo of the wings. Then slammed the phone down on me.
Iíve complained to the manager via email and she spoke with the vet, who denied offering a refund and called us liars. She offered a redo of the wing clip too. I sent her a photo of Biba and she said there are many different ways of clipping wings. They donít test fly as policy invade the bird gets trapped somewhere.
I feel so upset and out of pocket through travelling cost £15 in fuel plus the £35 for the wing clip.
Any advice what else I can do to make these people see what they are doing wrong? Also what can I do now for poor Biba?

Hi, and welcome! I am so sorry this wing clip

problem has occurred. To post pics, you will need a tiny pic account. Go to tiny pic website, create an account, and then upload your pictures. Go to home page here, and click on gallery. You should be able to upload your pics from tiny pic to your gallery. We can then look at them. You also should be able to upload to a post space like this one too Click on the third icon to the right above this writing, click on that pic icon. You should be able to upload from the tiny pic URL.

It is unfortunate the vet has chosen to respond as he did. It takes time for feathers to grow back. If it were me, as long as your bird can fly, I would not attempt to straighten those wing feathers out until all have grown back somewhat. In my view, knowing the cost, I would give it few months, as long as it is not imparring his flight, and then find another avian vet tech to straighten them.

If for any reason you feel your bird needs to be seen before then, that is appropriate. There was no reason at all for you to be treated by any professional doctor like you have experienced.

    We will watch for updates.

That is sad they did not know how to cut wing feathers and did it anyway. They should honestly know how much to cut without testing them if they have done in before which to me all avian vets should be trimming lots and lots of birds feathers since so many people get it done. Sometimes bird stores do it even better around here then the vets and charge only a little bit of money to do it. I agree with Ellen that no professional vet should ever treat you like yours did, shame on them! Getting your money back may be impossible but if this were me I would definitely leave bad reviews on websites that have their name on it so others know how they treated you and Biba.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

That is not good at all. Vets charge high fees for their services. Supposed to do the job correctly and not louse it up as happened here.

Sounds to me that this vet is lacking in training, especially when you stated that it specializes in exotics. When you say exotics, is it birds? reptiles? pocket pets? Not all vets treat birds and that is why it is important to visit a vet that specializes in "avian veterinary medicine". It also could have been an veterinary technician that clipped your Amazons wings instead of the vet itself. But there is still no excuse for the unprofessional ism that the clinic demonstrated.
