Need help with a fledgling sparrow bird please

    Hello,
A fledgling sparrow bird has flown into my house and is hiding under the armchair in the living room since this morning and does not want to leave. I don't want to scare her, but I'm also worried she'll die of hunger alone. I left the big window next to the armchair open and she could easily walk out in strides if she chose to, but she doesn't try at all. She doesn't look injured and she has also flown a few feet high inside the house before choosing to go down and hide under the armchair.
She then hid inside an old sheet in the living room for the night and she is still here today standing on a painting frame right next to the window but she doesn't want to get out...I don't want here to die of hunger...Its been more then 24 hours and I don't think she has eaten or drank anything in that time.
Someone maybe knows what to do in such a case to try to help her?

    Thanks for any answer

Hi, and welcome. Try finding a wild bird, or bird rescue in your area. They are always able to give good advice because they deal with these type of issues every day.

I suggest you use a small measuring cup and provide water to her. You could try cooking some oatmeal, cooling it, and then sprinkle a small amount of uncooked crushed pieces over the cooked, and sprinkle a very small amount of organic unsweetened apple juice over that mix. Put it on a small plate, or in a small bowl. Offer it for a few hours. Foods do spoil, so I would fix new food every few hours.

If there is an animal and bird hospital in your area, give them a call too!

    Hi,
Thank you for the help but it seams to have been resolved. I put some water as close as I could so that she will not panic from my presence and when I went away and watched from a corner so she wont see me, she came over there and drank some water(because she would not get close as long as she saw me). Then she got back to the painting frame and then left on here own after a few minutes. She must have been tired from her first flight yesterday and decided to rest at my house. But its weird that I did not see the parents anywhere near the outside of the window.
I hope she is OK out on her own now.

Aww!! I hope she is OK too! I am thinking she may have fell out of the nest, or maybe a predator got her parents! They usually do fairly well surviving in the wild, due to nature instincts.

I too hope she is OK and she will be safe outside alone. It has to be so scary for a new fledgling on its own after being with its parents to take care of it.
