    Cleaning new bird items?

Do I need to clean a new bird cage? I also got a water silo, no mess feeder and bird bath. Do they need to be cleaned before use? I was also wondering how often I should clean everything and what I should use.

No. But when you do start cleaning them, see that they are not too dirty. It is easier to clean cages that ate not very dirty. Just have a back up cage for your bird handy.

I usually clean them just because I am a bit paranoid about where these things have been and what has been around them. I usually wash toys with dawn dish soap and soak perches in a water and white vinegar and then rinse them and air dry them. White vinegar and water is also a great cleaner to use because the vinegar is bird safe. Even with that I dont use it around the birds just to make sure. I know it has a strong odor and why subject your bird to smelling it when they are easily taken to another room and not have to smell it.

I am with Deanna when it comes to the vinegar and water mix. I clean my bird cage and toys everyday. When I run the vacuum, Tango sings to it, I think it's the highlight of his day.
