    Parakeet bitting

I have recently got 2 parakeets, none of them are hand trained. However, they do land on us when they want. I have one with no issues, but the other one nibbles at our necks until she pierces the skin, then we have to stand up to get her to fly off, or she bites the top of our ears piercing the skin. How can I stop her from doing this?

That is typical behavior for some budgies. You can try a little discipline trick. When this happens, return the budgie to its cage, and once inside the cage, tell him, No, No. Do not bite me! Time out! Then, cover the cage with a towel for about 10-15 minutes and after that time out, try bringing him back out of cage again.

Budgies are intelligent, and they can learn good behavior. It may take awhile for the behavior to cease, but just keep trying this approach. In time, it may work.

With some budgies, the biting does not stop. They just continue biting. And for heir size, they can bite pretty hard. They draw blood. With some budgies, their does not be signs of stopping them from this habit.
