I love her!! Just like Elen said her face also melts my heart!! Lovebirds are the best birds with big attitudes but a very loving heart.

We tried to have Coco out for a little while today. I held her for a little while in my hands, and then my 24-year-old tried to hold her too. She was pretty scared trying to get out of our hands the whole time but we managed to hold her for a couple minutes each not very long.

That is great progress. It is early on as yet. Time and patience are on your side.

Is playing sounds of other lovebirds a good idea or a bad idea? We tried it with Tiki and couldnít tell if his answering chirps were social or stressed.

I cannot speak for lovebirds, but my budgie, Muffin, and cockatiel, Penny, love to watch and listen to YouTube videos. But, I would say, it may be a little early to play them as yet, because she has just come from an aviary and is so very young, just a baby. In a few weeks, after she has settled in well, then go to YouTube and find some videos. There are some awesome videos of all kinds of parrots there.

In the alternative, I would suggest playing Latin or classical music on a CD, or radio, and sit by her cage and gently talk, talk, talk to her. Eat a snack while sitting there. Give her some millet seeds or a treat of your choice and even read a little child's book to her. Also, play disney channel. All birds love to hear little kids voices,

    Re: Lovebird died suddenly

Just seen this thread, first, I am so sorry to read about the loss of Tiki. Very heartbreaking and so young. But, I would like to congratulate you on adopting Coco.. What a beauty! Seems like a very reputable breeder where you adopted Coco from, especially providing food for your new arrival. It's good not to switch foods over right away.. It's a transitional process and the old and the new needs to be adjusted each day. I have a cockatiel and I give him pellets and a seed mix. I give him the Roudybush brand and there is another great brand called Volkman. I know Deanna had very good results with Volkman.

Give Coco sometime to adjust. From what I have read, your making progress. Time is on your side. In regards to the cats, I wish I could help you.. Not a cat owner, I am allergic to kitties.

Congrats on your new family member!
