    Re: New cockatiel questions

Tyrion continues to get better. The dancing has stopped completely, and he has found toys! but, only if they are green. we have a flying cat toy, that has a small green helicopter like disk. He loves tossing it around.

    Re: New cockatiel questions

Tyrion is settling very well in the new home. Looks like he gained a feline friend too!!! It's funny how some birds are attracted to certain colors or very shiny things like bells or jewelry. In the short time you have had Tyrion home, you have made great progress and KUDO'S to you. Seems like Tyrion is revealing some of it's personality. Looking forward to reading more updates about your beautiful cockatiel.

I am going to guess that Tyrion is a pied pearl. A very beautiful tiel you have there.

    Re: New cockatiel questions

Oh my! I sure would watch her carefully with that cat. I know I ruffle human feathers when I comment about birds and cats together, but I strongly feel it is dangerous, and a bird simply has no chance when a cat decides to pounce. Cats are predators, plain and simple. I will be very sad, if one day, you lose beautiful, precious Tyrion to that cat.

No worries. They are all watched very carefully. What you don't see in the picture is my daughter on the floor right next to Kai.

    Re: New cockatiel questions

    He really is adorable!

Yep, you can never trust cats because even if its not the cat it could be the bird playing with them provoking them to paw them. My daughters cat never was interested in Tikki but they were never out in the same room together when Tikki was out of the cage. One day her husband let the cat in the house when he came home not knowing Tikki was out of the cage. Tikki for some silly reason dive bombed the cat and the cat swatted him!! It was a tiny scratch on the end of his wing that did bleed just a bit. My daughter washed it with Dawn and water and we rushed Tikki to the vets office. He was fine but it was still really scary and if it was any worse it would have been horrific because our vet is a hour away from our house. Accidents happen and luckily vets can clean them up and give them meds just incase it gets infected. Tikki had to take antibiotics for a week just in case of infection. But the fear it gives to us humans haunts us forever. My daughter now makes sure the doors are all locked and the cats and her dog are outside when Tikki gets out of the cage time.
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

Tyrion is gaining weight again. He is now 80 grams, and looks slightly plump. Definitely more active now. He plays with his toys on the gym many times during the day. He has added scrambled eggs, and edemame, to his like list. over alll doing well. still have hissy fits, but not quite as often.

You adopted a really good eater. When you fix Tyrion scrambled eggs, be sure to add the egg shells. My tiel is going to be 9 in October and he still has hissy fits too.
