Trying to tame a formerly breeding pair of GCC

    Hi everyone,
I have a breeding pair of GCC's that are five years old. The female is not very friendly, and the male is slightly friendly and will let you hold him on his terms. Neither bird has a name, I just adopted them, and obviously they were not given much attention in the past. Neither bird even knows how to step up. I am asking for suggestions on how to tame them to be more friendly. Thanks!

Hi, Julie, and welcome to you and your new conures. We have members here who have conures. I am sure they will post some info for you.

I have never owned conures. But I would say to you, sit by their cage and talk softly to them. Play music on a CD or radio for them. Give them millet sprigs for treats. And while they are eating, eat a snack with them while you sit there. It will take them some time to trust you, especially since they never had much human attention. But do not lose heart. They will learn to love you and their new home with you.
