    RIP Naples

My last budgie bird, Naples, died yesterday of a tumor. She was 7 years old. I am unsure what to do with her body. I loved her so much. Hopefully I can get another budgie once the stupid pandemic is over.

I would like to share this poem that I found on the board somewhere:

Fly free, sweet birdy, above the trees,
    And perch upon the clouds.
Lift your beak and open wide,
Sing long and sweet and loud

    Wake the skies around you,
    Till angels join your call.
Shake your tail and prance around,
And your song will downward fall.

We on earth who morn your passing
    Will hear the glorious sound.
We will stop and cast our eyes above
And feel your presence all around.

For though your humans left behind
    Will forever miss your voice,
We’ll hear it if we listen on clear, calm days.
We’ll remember your life, and rejoice.

So thank you, birdy, for just being you,
For giving meaning to our days.
We hope you rest and sing in peace,
We love you, now and always.

My heart hurts for you I still get a few tears for my Boomer who died so many years ago because it is truly is so hard to lose your very much loved bird. This is a beautiful poem to remember your little girl with. I love the part in it where it says "Will forever miss your voice, We’ll hear it if we listen on clear, calm days." My husband who is a big strong man took losing Boomer very hard and for it least a year he would tell us he heard Boomers cheep in the forest behind our back yard fence. It made him get teary eyed telling us. Our little birds get into our hearts and souls and we will forever mourn the loss of them. I truly wished I could give you a hug and sit with you as a friend so you could tell me all about your sweet Naples. We are old friends from this forum and I am so sorry for your loss.

Fly free little Naples, you were loved...
Fly Free Boomer, we will forever love you.

I am so sorry you have lost your precious Naples. I know you were an excellent caregiver, because Naples lived for 7 years. I am sending you virtual hugs! Your poem is simply beautiful!

Fly high and free sweet Naples! Over the rainbow bridge.

Thank you everyone :) I would go to my local breeder or store to buy a new budgie, but I don't think it is safe to do so becuase of the pandemic. I miss having a budgie so much :(

Awww!! That is a problem for sure! I am so sorry you have to be alone without one. I suggest for you to call your local breeder. Ask him if he is still selling budgies and how he is handling the virus. He may be able to send pics of some of his budgies for sale, and allow you to choose one for bringing home later. Also, call an avian vet, and ask them how they are working around the virus with budgies, and how you could get one.
