How much should I pay for a re homed bird?

So I have been looking for a larger bird for a while now, I have a GCC and a tiel and I love them so, but I really want a larger bird, the problem is that around were I love no one wants to re home their birds but they want to sell them for the highest bidder, I would like to know if a 12 year old B&G Macaw is worth 1000 bucks? Should I try to talk them down? Or not even bother because they really don't care?

Hi, and welcome! That does sound like a great amount of money. I suggest you look for bird rescues and bird adoption agencies in your area. Give them a call. Tell them what you are looking for. These days there are rescues and adoption agencies in most areas of a country or province. Birds from these places are rehabilitated as well as healed from injuries or illness and are offered to people who love and care for birds. Sometimes people have to move and cannot take their pets with them. They take them to these places because people who work there love birds deeply and give them the best of care.

Oh thanks, but sadly the only parrot rescues around me either have no birds or very few and those don't fit my lifestyle nor my family. Thank you for replying!
