Pregnancy Dreams?

Hi everyone,

OK, I just found out I was pregnant last night, I know who cares, but I am only bringing it up because of the dreams.

The reason I thought I was prengnant, was not the tenderness, or the dizziness and vertigo, or the tiredness, i figured all that was caused by medication I had stopped taking in the last 3 weeks. No, it was the dreams I've been having for the last month.

I did take a test about a month ago but it was negative. Not to get too detailed but I have an irregular cycle so I didn't realized i had miss one. Anyway, this is not my first child so I knew the dreams were the indicator, so took two more last night.

I just think it is interesting that the mind does this, and I would like to know how many other women go through this, and how many (if any) men go through the samething when someone close to them is pregnant. Meaning a wife, lover, sister or whomever.

For those that have not experienced or heard of it, I am talking about off the wall dreams, and usually high rated type of dreams. And usually every night.

Anyway I am only bringing it up here, because most pregnancy sites can be very depressing and I avoid them, and I would really like to hear from you guys.

Thanx,
Crystal

Re: Pregnancy Dreams?

First I want to congradulate you on your pregnancy. how exciting for you. I do not think dreams are thast unusual. I never had them but I did have 3 children and i sensed/knew what sex they would be without any tests

Re: Pregnancy Dreams?

Congrats on being pregnant!

You could have had those dreams because you 1) wanted to be pregnant, 2) felt deep down (mind wise) that you WERE pregnant or 3) it's just something you've been thinking about since the time you took the test. Sometimes if we really, really what something we dream it happens. But regardless, the fact that you didn't know and had all those dreams is cool. I'm so fascinated by dreams.

Re: Pregnancy Dreams?

Have all your friends been getting pregnant in the last year or so? If so, that might do it.

At the moment, I feel like all my college friends are pregnant. In fact, just about every female I know my age is pregnant or has a young child! I sometimes feel a bit like I am "marked" to be the one who goes down next. It keeps occuring to me..."this could happen to me! eek!" (Its only eek because I'd like to graduate from my program...get health insurance...all that practical stuff.)

But that aside, congrats!!!

Re: Pregnancy Dreams?

Big congrats!! How exciting!

I have those dreams too sometimes. I've had some pregnancy ones before but I was never nor am I now pregnant...lol
I usually trust my dreams. I can have ones about what is going to happen months into the year and it happens or there is some indicator in a dream that hints on to something thats going to happen. Both my mom and I have these dreams. Never doubt your dreams no matter how crazt they may seem.

Re: Pregnancy Dreams?

Thank you everyone for the support.

Before I had my last two kids I did have dreams before they were conceived about getting pregnant or others around me getting pregnant, like my little sister who was 14 at the time. I think I had these dreams because, as everyone had metioned, lots of girls (unfortunatly very young girls) around me were getting pregnant, and I kinda thought I was ready for parent hood and was a bit jealous. And with my second baby we were actually trying to get pregnant. So everything you all sugested makes total sense. BTW, this time is a surprise, but a good one.

But I didn't make myself clear about the dreams I am talking about I have once I have concieved. These dreams can just be out right crazy. Not only are some X rated, but some I don't know how to describe it so I will give example.

One night I had a dream that I was shipped to an island to be totured and fed. It was part of some deal that was made with someone in the middle east, people were sent to be totured for a while, in exchange for them to stop capturing people and torture then killing them, type of thing, I don't know the exact details. In the dream I didn't know why I was there until the end, when I was getting shipped back. Anyway the one of the ways we were tortured that I remember, we had to be put through was basically being and having to choose between helping an animal and getting shocked ourselves, or sitting there watching the animal get shocked. And I don't mean like in that Steven King movie "Cat's Eye," I think it is called. We were in a metal box. Like I said weird. There is alot more to it, but the is was the strangest of all (that I can recall). I can share some more for those who are curious, none get quite so bad as this one.

Crystal

Anyway, those are the type of dreams I am talking about. I know we all have dreams like this and we have know idea why. But on a usually night while I am pregnant, I have MANY dreams throughout the night. Of course I don't remember what all of them are always are after I wake, I just remmeber waking up every few hours totally sweaty and emotional (mad, sad, happy and others ). Another one I remember having more than once with my first girl toward the end of the pregnancy, I kept dreaming I gave birth to a puppy or a kitten. I know those dreams were caused by fears and doubts of becoming a mom, but still very weird.

Re: Pregnancy Dreams?

Oddly, I had a dream about giving birth to an animal once too--a cockatiel. That was back in college.

I wasn't thinking about pregnancy or desiring it or fearing it.

I just really, really wanted a pet bird! Weird I know.
