Firey Shouldered Conure

I recently got in touch with an Eclectus breeder in my area and he mentioned that he currently had baby Fiery Shouldered Conures. I havent been able to find out a lot of information on the internet about these birds so far so I was wonderign what everyone here knows. Any information would be great.

I've heard they are one of the quieter species, but quiet is relative!

Fiery shouldered conures are known as demerara conures aswell, (Pyrrhura egregia) they're very similar to GCC's in character and care.

yes, i just met one yesterday- they are sweet, loving birds (given proper care). i have a GCC and it reminded me of mine in mannerisms & noise level.

they are small sonures- smaller than a cockatiel, but don't let the size fool you. i would get a cage larger than a tiel's standard cage for this bird, as they will use every square inch of the cage, i guarantee you! they are frenetic, acrobatic birds that need lots of toys (esp. foot toys & things to climb) and stimulation to be happy.

i also recommend a playgym- my GCC got this one and is very happy with it. here is a pic of how i "fixed it up" currently...

my GCC gets out for 2-7 hours daily to play on her gym, play in other places, be on one of us, eat as a flock with us & the other birds, and shower. life's good!
