Alexandrine Parrot/parakeet

Hi all, sorry I have not spent too much time joining in on the posting since joining this site. I recently added an Alexandrine to my flock. Of course he has his own cage and a large one at that, but what I am looking for is any info or tips on caring for this big guy.

He is 17 weeks old. He was hand fed by a breeder. He has seen an avian vet just for a check up ( all is well ). He is already mocking our whistles. The 2 parakeets love him ( although we don't let them out together ). He does eat seed, pellet, and any fresh fruit or veggies put in front of him.

Sorry I can't post pictures at this time, I do not have the right stuff to do this.

Oh, and he is the green regular type.

Re: Alexandrine Parrot/parakeet

I think theyre beatiful birds, I always confuse them with ringneck parakeets... I recently saw a blue one at the store, theyre so small, for some reason, I thought they were larger

Re: Alexandrine Parrot/parakeet

I have an Alexandrine! There so great arnt they1 I cant wait for pics! heres Murphy

Empathy are you sure you didnt see an indian ringneck? Alexs are quite large in my opinion, Imsure there supposed to be the largest parakeet except for macaws, but maybe im wrong? hehe

By the way sorry about the mess Murphys in at the moment, bad molt....But his black ring around the neck is coming through as you can see!

Re: Alexandrine Parrot/parakeet

Yeah, I was reffering to the blue ringneck, not alexandrine I saw at the petstore, the bird was about the same size as the conure in a near by cage.
