My birds were STOLEN

I came home from work at 3 today to find my inner door (after the screen door) locked. Which i thought was weird cuz i never lock it. I went to walk thru the carport door, which i found unlatched.

When i walked thru Buddy busted out from the back yard door to run to me. I knew right then and there something was wrong. I walk in to find Lacey missing (i found her later on locked in the bedroom). Jadens cage door wide open, hes gone. Baileys gone, they took Mikas whole cage which wasnt very big. They left everyone else. Took all appliances, TV, camera, Xbox, PS3.

Guys im a total mess. I havent stopped shaking and the police still arent here. My babies are out with some stranger and i cant do anything. Im running around all day tomorrow to put flyers EVERYWHERE. If you guys can let me know places to post or post for me. Im just so lost.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

How horrible, I am so very sorry and I hope like heck someone finds the people who did this. Call all the pet stores, vets and put ads on all the craiglists in your area telling all of them what happened. Also put up signs everywhere and even try to call the local news papersto see if they will say something about this in the papers.

I hope you find them, I could not even imagine what your going through right now.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

Oh my god, I am so sorry. That is one of my worst nightmares.

I agree, look out on craigslist/kajiji, that is where they are going to try to dump them. And look CAREFULLY, likely they don't know what they are, or they wouldn't have stolen a quaker and IRN (no offense, of course). Check every add, they might sell them as just "parrots" and look for their cages, etc.

Contact the police, and get your friends looking on Kajiji/Craigslist (actually, where are you, and we can start helping).

This must be so scary for you. The creep who did this will be found, and better be punished. Post flyers everywhere, and never stop searching. You will get your babies back. I am so sorry, I don't know what that must feel like.

EDIT: I saw your ad on Craigslist. Keep posting up there, and Kijiji as well.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

Talk to the neighbor hood and ask what cards they saw by your house that day. somebody might have seen something, anything. Have you noticed any cars slowly driving the house? Do you know anybody who had "interest" in the birds? Are they banned? Post the ID's if you can remember them. Anything you can think of that would help identify and locate the birds Jani. Check out of state craiglist and such too, keep an eye out on the local newpapers and those out of state if possible.

Know any neighborhood kids you can trust? Have them listen and talk to the kids around.

Just curious to why you left the door unlocked though.

Jani, I'm so sorry to hear this.
I am totally stunned, this must be a living hell for you!
Keep looking, keep trying and never give up. I will be keeping you and the birds in my thoughts. I have little advice, just echoing what everyone has said and keep yours eyes peeled. I'll do my best to keep checking on those sites, too. I truly hope you find your babies safe and well soon.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

I'll post it in my area just in case. The more people post about it, the more they will get noticed. They may be trying to go out of state with the birds.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

Victoria the door wasnt unlocked. I always lock my doors. The back door is ***** tho. Its a really old house. It had a deadbolt in it, but they practically ripped the door open and the lock just ripped thru the wall and opened.

I have postings on Craigslist, Kijiji, and a few other places. Going around tomorrow with flyers and hitting all the local bird stores and just random places.

Talked to my neighbors and no one saw ANYTHING. My neighbor even said she knows my car, and wouldve known if there was another car but she didnt see it.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

Thats odd, somebody would have had to see something I would think. Do they have bands? I am guessing these people will head out of state or town at least. Has the police shown up?

I hate people who steal animals, makes me mad. I posted one for over here, just to be sure. I'll keep an eye out for things over here. Try the newpapers and see if they will run an add or something. I rally hope you get your birds back.

I hope the guy gets shot.

I know what it is like, I had my boa (6 ft) get stolen from me and then was I was ditched somewhere in town.

Keep us updated Jani, we are all hoping you get them back, all of them, nd in good condition.

Isn't there a parrot911 forum or site online? I've heard about it on here before.

BTW: I did get my snake back.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

It is amazing how people don't see things when they are happening right in front of them. A few weeks ago, we had a huge extension ladder stolen right out of our yard in broad daylight. They would have needed a truck to haul it away, an no one (including our upstairs neighbor, who is a stay at home mom that hardly ever leaves the house) saw a thing. No one.

Keep looking, they will turn up. They didn't steal them because they wanted them as pets, they stole them because they want money. They will try to sell them.

Re: My birds were STOLEN

I think everybody should post the new in their area on craiglist and the likes of, it will give them less places to hide. Keep it updated and constant. Jani, I'll post pictures over here if you can get them out to me. Theres enough of us that it would turn out something.
