We have new neighbours that have 2 kittens, they're shut out the house all day. They have a cat flap to use but the room that it goes into is only 3 x 3ft with their food bowls, no beds etc so they have no reason to stay there.
To keep out of the cold weather they often sit in our house, next to all the cages. We always shoo them out but we're not always in. I returned home from college yesterday to find Wiggy's cage smashed on the floor, a couple of feet away lay a few of her feathers (I'll spare detail). She was sharing the cage with another of my canaries that is unwell who is also disabled (one leg). Fortunately he was able to fly off and hide until we got home, unfortunately Wiggy being blind made her an easy target.
